5 reasons why creativity is good for you
You don't have to be good at something for it to be good for you!
One of the most common arguments people use to defend why they don't do anything creative is - "But I can't draw."
This belief often has its origins in childhood, but I'll talk more on that some other time. Today I just want to tell you that you really don't have to "know how to draw" to benefit from creating.
First of all, creativity itself is definitely not limited to drawing. There are a lot of possibilities, you just have to choose. One can reach for a paintbrush, a camera, plasticine, modelling clay, knitting, embroidery, origami folding, glass painting, jewellery making, crochet, or various mixed media. I really believe that everyone can choose!

And whether you're picking up your chosen material for the first time or are already friends with it, whether you're just going to experiment or create with some intention, know that you're just taking a positive step towards your mental well-being! Creative activity benefits us for many reasons, so let me mention at least these five today.
Stress relief
Sitting down after a hard day at work and turning on the news on TV won't relieve us of accumulated stress, quite the opposite. Instead of receiving more stimuli, creative activity allows us to put something out of ourselves, on paper.
Brain health improvement
Nowadays, most of us spend a huge amount of time in front of a screen. Our work is mostly mental and pretty monotonous. Trying a new technique or activity that we haven't done before stimulates new parts of the brain, thus positively affecting its condition.
Stimulating the senses
Also, we tend to be sensually understimulated from excessive mobile phone use. We use sight and hearing the most, while touch tends to be the most neglected. That's why working with art material provides new experiences and stimulates our sensory perception.
Communication without words
Some emotions are difficult to put into words. And sometimes we don't even want to talk about them. Painting, working with clay, making collages, whatever medium we use, we leave our imprint in it. And that's often enough...
Flow state
Immersing ourselves in a creative activity and letting the process guide us is one of the almost guaranteed ways to enjoy a state in which time passes differently and our minds are free to wander.
So how about you now? What creative technique will you choose? ;-)
